Dr. Ronald W. Cornwell attended Medical School at the University of Nevada where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. He then completed five years of surgical residency training at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio. Following completion of his residency, he served in the United States Air force for over four years as a general surgeon. He returned back to his roots in southwestern Idaho in 1995 to enter private practice.

Throughout his career Dr. Cornwell has served and continues to serve in positions of responsibility, from which he can positively impact patient care in Idaho. Among many other positions, he has served as President of the Idaho Chapter of the American College of Surgeons, Trustee of the Idaho Medical Association, President of the Southwest Idaho Medical Society and Member of the Board of Trustees of the Caldwell Cancer Treatment Center.

Dr. Cornwell has particular interest in and extensive experience with the laparoscopic surgical treatment of gastroesophageal reflux (chronic heartburn), gastrointestinal cancers and abdominal wall hernias. His dedication and skill make him an extremely valuable member of the team at Advanced Surgery of Idaho.
